Dark Web Monitoring.
Our director Alex discusses the advantages of DWM.
Dark Web Monitoring (DWM) is the process of searching for, and keeping track of information found on a portion of the internet commonly called the ‘dark web’.
The dark web is a hidden network of websites that requires a special web TOR browser to access. It's hidden from search engines and allows users to hide their IP addresses and identities. The dark web's privacy and anonymity means it serves as a venue for people who want to stay hidden, provide malicious services and buy or sell illegal goods, like, identity information, harvested passwords and login credentials.
Monitoring the dark web is so important for businesses as you can get early warnings of upcoming breaches through discussions on forums or even notification your business has been breached through the sale of information.
It’s common during wars for both sides to try and listen in to enemy communication and this is what I see DWM as, listening in to the enemy in the war against cyber criminals.
Monitoring the dark web can be useful as a preventative measure, but also as a ‘post cyber breach’ measure in ensuring your information isn’t leaked. So, if you’d like to keep tabs on the dark web in the context of your business or even your customers, IT Workhouse can provide a detailed evaluated report monthly outlining relevant and available dark web records. Your monthly risk assessment will include:
List of breached records and available data
Analysis of accuracy and timeliness of data
Nature of breach (where disclosed)
Remedial actions to be taken
Current risk levels
Breach data is sourced ethically, and the data handled by a limited number of security specialists. Trust is vital in business and IT Workhouse is here for you.
